Freedom Square

Developed since 2000 when Catherine Mayhew, VSO Planner worked in Iganga for 2 years and persuaded the local council and community that a public open space and park was required in the centre of the town.

Officially opened in April 2003 when Peter Minhinnett and his family were joined in Iganga by Graham and Jan Morrott. As Graham was also representing Daventry as the Town mayor at the time, his Official opening of Freedom Square went down well with the Iganga Town Council Chairman Constantine Bukyabubi

It is only the opening day for Freedom Square and local citizens have turned up moved into a newly erected shady shelter and are playing a game of cards and chatting with friends The opening ceremony ends with all of the people involved in its inception in Iganga along with the visitors from UK getting together for the usual all smiling picture
